LEGO City June 2026 wave – set by set review

Summary

From hidden gems to quirky yet charming concepts, this summer's LEGO City range is full of surprises.

What We Liked

  • A varied line-up with some hidden gems
  • The Beach Tram is a stand-out on all fronts
  • A passenger jet at a reasonable price for a change

What Could Be Better

  • Some sets skimp on minifigures

LEGO City's summer 2026 wave is bad news for your wallet, with plenty to enjoy across sets that are varied in both size and price.

After reviewing both 60501 Lava Land and 60511 Vintage Steam Train individually last week, we're now taking a closer look at the rest of the LEGO City summer 2026 sets one by one. Whether you have countless LEGO City sets or are just taking a passing interest, odds are that you'll want to pick up at least one of these new sets – and it will be hard to resist the urge.

Read on to see just how good this new collection of LEGO City models is, and which ones are the best.

60480 Backhoe Loader

Price: £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99 Pieces: 301 Minifigures: 2 Release date: Jun 1, 2026

LEGO City re-enters the construction game with the small but mighty 60480 Backhoe Loader. The 301-piece model packs in a lot, both in terms of content and functions, and for only £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99. This is an essential addition to any construction site scene. From the play features to the shaping, this model is a gem in the summer 2026 wave. That's not to mention the Alien Conquest Easter egg.

60492 Passenger Jet

Price: £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99 Pieces: 118 Minifigures: 4 Release date: Jun 1, 2026

60492 Passenger Jet is the smallest of the LEGO City summer sets, and the only 4+ entry. 118 elements for £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99 doesn't look promising, but don't let that deter you from this lovely build. Though assembly will be simple and fast for anyone beyond the 4+ target audience, the build works wonders as a passenger jet soaring above a city and is big enough to justify the price tag.

Whether you have a LEGO airport or not, you owe it to yourself to give this set a chance. Planes this size aren't usually this inexpensive.

60494 Dump Truck & Front End Loader

Price: £99.99 / $129.99 / €119.99 Pieces: 1,132 Minifigures: 3 Release date: Jun 1, 2026

For those with no construction models in their collection, look no further than 60494 Dump Truck & Front End Loader. The 1,132-piece set is on the expensive side, but this model brings a lot of new builds to the table. The on-site office is a gem with a dense interior and plenty of character. The two vehicles are huge, fun to build and have great functionality between them. Add to that the new pug, and the only criticism would be just three minifigures for such a large set. More workers on the ground are necessary.

60496 Pizza Delivery Experience

Price: £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99 Pieces: 494 Minifigures: 5 Release date: Jun 1, 2026

60496 Pizza Delivery Experience is an unusual model, even beyond the realms of LEGO City. It delivers a full pizza delivery experience with interesting functionality and some clever techniques, but in a game show-style setting that allows for some fast-paced and unique delivery options. It's such an odd concept for a build, but the excellent execution adds a lot of charm to the set, and it's one to look for on sale.

60497 Drive-Through Car Wash

Price: £49.99 / $59.99 / €54.99 Pieces: 583 Minifigures: 4 Release date: Jun 1, 2026

Despite the numerous vehicles in LEGO City, car washes aren't as common as you'd expect and usually fall on the more affordable side. 60497 Drive-Through Car Wash stands out with a £49.99 / $59.99 / €54.99 price tag, but don't let that deter you. The build is suitably clean with flush shaping and great decorations. There's even a moving washing feature to set it apart from any other LEGO City car wash.

Add to that the sponge-shaped mascot, two great cars (and some wry LEGO humour with that convertible), as well as the interesting minifigures, and it's another surprisingly great build in the summer 2026 range.

60506 Classic Beach Tram

Price: £59.99 / $74.99 / €69.99 Pieces: 693 Minifigures: 5 Release date: Jun 1, 2026

As much as we love aspects of every LEGO City summer 2026 set, none is as much of a must-have as 60506 Classic Beach Tram. Models like this only come around every so often and are not to be missed. It works fantastically for both play and display and includes everything you need for the beach setting.

The tram is a fantastic build, there are secrets beneath the sand, and compared to every other LEGO beach, this is by far the best. The £59.99 / $74.99 / €69.99 price tag comes with 693 pieces, including both the new pug and a pigeon. What more do we need to say to convince you to pick up this beautiful set?

60509 Harbour Freight Train

Price: £89.99 / $109.99 / €99.99 Pieces: 803 Minifigures: Release date: Jun 1, 2026

At first glance, 60509 Harbour Freight Train is an odd release. The main engine is much smaller than most other LEGO freight trains that have come before it – but that's entirely by design. This is not a typical freight train, but a shunter. It is intended to move freight around a yard, rather than transport it long distances. In that respect, the build is great.

The rest of the set fulfils the other necessary parts of the freight experience, and the small orange and white truck has some particularly fantastic techniques. It's by no means essential, but we can appreciate another more affordable LEGO train model, much like 60511 Vintage Steam Train – though you'll again need to add your own track here.

60512 Mountain Bike Adventure Van

Price: £17.99 / $19.99 / €19.99 Pieces: 260 Minifigures: Release date: Jun 1, 2026

Rounding out the LEGO City summer 2026 range is 60512 Mountain Bike Adventure Van. We had low expectations going into this set. It never caught our eye upon its reveal, but those low expectations left us pleasantly surprised. The 260-piece build is surprisingly in-depth with multiple moving parts and some ingenious storage solutions. Had it been priced any higher than £17.99 / $19.99 / €19.99, it would be hard to recommend. At that price, though, it's one to watch this summer.

Our Verdict

There's almost too much to enjoy across the LEGO City summer 2026 range, even when the theme chooses to get a bit stranger than usual. The slice-of-life sets continue to be great value, with excellent builds and brilliant functionality.
