The iconic LEGO Ferris wheel is back this summer with a model that doesn’t reinvent the wheel but gives it a fresh, darker coat of paint.
LEGO Creator has seen its fair share of Ferris wheels, each relying on the simple but joyous premise of a big spinning wheel with bright colours. 31389 Iconic Ferris wheel is no huge innovation in the former regard, relying on a proven tactic to add a fantastic model to Creator’s summer 2026 selection.

There’s something so intrinsically charming about a LEGO Ferris wheel. Such a sculpture is not hard to spin, but it can vary wildly in its design, and they typically do. 31389 Iconic Ferris wheel‘s build is in part identical to the retired 31119 Ferris wheel, but there are small changes in the model that make it feel more substantial.
Instead of the smiling sun at the centre of the Ferris wheel, a more subtle pointed design is featured. When combined with the dark blue colour scheme and drum-lacquered silver tiles, it creates a more elegant appearance than the whimsical look in the 2021 Ferris wheel.

The dark blue supports are more muted than we’d like, and a brighter blue would have worked just as well. As it stands, 31389 Iconic Ferris wheel’s design is attractive, but a different coat of paint would have been preferred to maintain some whimsy from the 2021 set.
While the supports aren’t our preferred colour, their thicker and more detailed design is much more appealing and sturdier too, better holding the wheel itself in place for the set’s main function.
31389 Iconic Ferris Wheel's primary play feature is a crank to spin the Ferris wheel, using precisely the same feature as in 2021. It works just as effectively as ever and was in no need of fixing.

As far as the Ferris wheel is concerned, this is a remastered version of the 2021 set with a facelift, and that’s all it needs to be. LEGO Ferris wheels are reliable, and 31389 Iconic Ferris Wheel is no major departure from the usual formula. Where the set does differ is in the side builds.
Aside from the main Ferris Wheel model, you’ll find four minifigures as well as an ice cream stall. This is a charming build packed with detail in such a small package. Everything from the curved shaping to the colour scheme works wonders, and it’s functional for the minifigure server, to boot.

Overall, there’s a lot to like in 31389 Iconic Ferris Wheel, but don’t go into this model expecting a huge shift from the norm. This 916-piece set is a classic LEGO Ferris wheel at a reasonable price tag. It has a different enough design to stand out from the other fairground models, but it remains a typical LEGO Ferris wheel through and through.
The only real downside of this set is that the build is repetitive, but such an outcome is hard to avoid in a Ferris wheel model. That's no major slight against 31389 Iconic Ferris Wheel, but it is still worth noting.

Like all Creator 3-in-1 sets, 31389 has two alternate builds: a UFO ride that can spin either flat or at an angle, and a carousel with four swings that move in and out as the model rotates. They're both thematically appropriate and may even tempt you into picking up three copies of this set to build out an entire mini theme park – as long as you're content with all your rides sharing the same colour scheme, of course.
31389 Iconic Ferris Wheel will be released on June 1, 2026, for £79.99 / $99.99 / €89.99 with 916 pieces and four minifigures.
