LEGO House 40507 I Love Billund review

The latest LEGO House exclusive set is a bright, colourful and Architecture-tinged tribute to the home of the LEGO Group.

We are already seven years into the LEGO House’s run of exclusive LEGO sets – sets you can only pick up when visiting the LEGO House in Billund – and 40507 I Love Billund continues the collection’s trend of offering something completely different to what came before.

This time we have a microscale tribute to the town of Billund itself, with the three largest landmarks to the LEGO town depicted across the world’s first LEGOLAND, the LEGO House and the recently-opened LEGO Campus, complete with company founder Ole Kirk Christiansen’s original house and workshop, with adjoining original LEGO museum, the LEGO Idea House.

As you can tell, there’s a lot of detail worked into 1,404 pieces, offering a real insight into the LEGO Group’s key locations at its HQ. Each area is excellently captured in microscale form to be instantly recognisable, with a few interesting techniques thrown in there to achieve some of the particular styles and shapes of the buildings. Think of this as the most colourful Architecture set you’ve ever built.

40507 I Love Billund is very much in keeping with the previous LEGO House exclusives we’ve seen – as a standalone LEGO set it’s not the most immediately compelling or interesting, but as a unique souvenir to mark a trip out to the home of the brick, nothing else comes close. What else can you buy on location then build and point to as having been there in such a fun way as this?

This LEGO set was provided by the LEGO Group for review purposes.
